Abstract | Guidance information obtained from INS(Inertial Navigation System) generally includes cumulative navigation errors due to the bias of inertial sensors. GPS(Global Positioning System) which provides navigational information with low sampling rates but bounded error characteristics can be used as a complementary sensor to effectively and accurately compensate the bias of inertial sensors. However, it is well known that the GPS aided INS suffers from observability problems as well as GPS jamming and it may not be adequate for missile applications. In order to avoid this weakness of the GPS aided INS, we need to consider one or more alternative sensors such as magnetometer, barometer, radio altimeter, and vision sensor instead of GPS. Among these sensors, we notice the use of a vision sensors, for compensating the INS error.
In the thesis, a design method of the navigation filter for the strapdown seeker aided INS is proposed. Basic idea of the proposed method is that the navigation is possible if more than three known targets can be identified from the strapdown seeker. UKF(Unscented Kalman Filter) is considered as the core filter structure. Sensor system structure, implementation issues, and observability problems related to the number of required known targets are also dealt with in this thesis. |
